Prototypes

Border Engineering specialise in prototype work, in particular for the automotive industry. Working closely with our customers we can provide design concepts quickly as well as following up with revisions and multiple variants to customer specification. Typically prototypes go up to five revisions.

Much of our prototype work is destined for specialist applications and conversions for vehicles. However we undertake prototypes in all fields of industry. Because of our experience we can provide valuable assistance throughout with regards to design for manufacture and cost reduction in order to address future high volume production efficiency issues.

Standard Parts
This sheet metal bracket is typical of components commonly supplied, an OEM part for a Vauxhall Police conversion.

Lost Tooling
Press tooling for this component was no longer available. The customer supplied the part which we then replicated using prototype methods.

Lost Drawings
Drawings are not always required. This hand brake item is typical of the type of product that Border can reverse engineer. There are very few items that we cannot reproduce due to the diversity of our skills and machinery.
